Jemma Schroder is a senior at Design Tech High School and a founding member of the d.tech Model United Nations Team. She is a co-president of the team, as well as being a section editor of the student-run newspaper The Dragon and a co-captain of the d.tech sailing team. Jemma is extremely interested in politics and world affairs, but also greatly enjoys mathematics, philosophy, and cognitive science. This year, she is looking forward to increasing her knowledge on world affairs and geopolitical issues!
Ian O’Haire is a senior at Design Tech High School and a founding member of the Model United Nations team. This year he will be serving as co-president of the team. Ian enjoys being a part of the class and the team because it combines diplomacy, debate, and research in a fun and interesting way. Aside from Model UN, Ian is also an active member of both the varsity soccer and cross-country teams at Design Tech. He looks forward to another great year of the Model UN team and the International Studies class!
Jeremy Baum is a junior at Design Tech High School and was a founding member of the d.tech Model United Nations team. This is his third year on the Model United Nations team, and he is interested in current politics, controversial issues, and world affairs. He hopes to get to know his teammates and improve his public speaking this year.
Steven Varghese is a senior at Design Tech High School and a second year MUN delegate. Steven can’t wait to further hone the skills he began to develop last year, especially at conferences. At school, Steven played basketball and baseball for the past three years, and is very excited for his final two seasons. He also plays AAU basketball during the summer and fall. Along with sports, he enjoys playing video games, meeting up with friends, and watching movies/binging tv shows. His life code is: as Jesus once said, “Always thank the sidewalks for keeping you off the streets.”
Junior Griffin Conley has been a part of the Model United Nations team since its inception and is happy for another year aboard as Director of Publicity. Griffin enjoys that Model United Nations is an activity that allows him to be on a team, while still having the ability to grow as a problem solving global citizen and improve on public speaking abilities. While not doing Model United Nations, Griffin is an avid cook and sailor.
Kasvi Singh is a sophomore at Design Tech High School and a second year member of the Model United Nations Team. She has always had an interest in learning about politics, world affairs, and discussing controversial topics. Apart from school, Kasvi can be found singing her heart out, bopping out to music, trying new chords on the piano or practicing the violin. She hopes to improve her writing skills, grow as a delegate and expand her geographical knowledge. Kasvi is enthused to be part of the MUN team and is looking forward to another amazing year.
Kyle Tam is a junior at Design Tech High School and has been attending Model United Nations conferences for two years. He finds the class enjoyable because it is a great way to challenge himself. Outside of school, Kyle loves to spend time with his friends and family doing various sports that he enjoys such as soccer, badminton, swimming, and table tennis. He looks forward to another successful year of Model UN and to improve his knowledge on politics, geography, and world affairs.
Samantha is a sophomore and a first-year member of the MUN Team. She can’t wait to learn more about politics and world affairs. Apart from debate and diplomacy, Samantha has an interest in science and art. She likes to spend her free time bullet journalling, creating cards, practicing her flute, reading, watching Netflix, or spending time with friends and family. She is part of the cross country/track team, art club, d.leadership, and Singapore Exchange Program. She is excited to refine her writing and public speaking skills, while meeting new people along the way and becoming a global citizen.
Roxie Baggott is a Sophomore at Design Tech Highschool, and this is her first year on The Model United Nations Team. She joined the team because she wanted to be more informed on global affairs. She also thought the public speaking aspect was right up her ally given that she does musicals and plays. In her free time she likes to go on runs after school, draw, play piano, and sing. Roxie also writes and draws for the school newspaper: The dragon. Though she likes to have a busy lifestyle, sometimes she finds it’s best to just curl up with a book and her cat.
Maddie is a sophomore at Design Tech High School. As a first-year member and the Treasurer for Model UN team, she looks forward to learning more about political affairs and widening her perspective of the world by studying different viewpoints. She also serves as the Head of Business and Corporate Development on the school's robotics team, FRC Team 5940 BREAD, and is a founder of d.tech's Singapore exchange program. In her free time, she enjoys studying economics and psychology, practicing martial arts, eating unhealthy snacks and watching competitive sports.
Thomas is a sophomore at Design Tech High School and a first-year member of the Model UN team. He is interested in both politics and World Issues and thinks this class is a great way to dive deeper into his interests. While not at school, Thomas enjoys running and relaxing by watching TV. He’s excited this year to improve his public speaking skills while also being able to learn about how our world works.
Miriam Dijamco is a senior at Design Tech High School. This is her first year at Model UN and she is excited to learn about the world through the lens of diplomacy, along with improving her public speaking skills. Apart from school, Miriam enjoys watching movies with friends and family, or experimenting with different art styles.
Elliot Johnston is a Freshman at Design Tech Highschool, and this is his first time on the MUN team. He loves debating, especially about current events, so he decided to join the Model UN/International Studies class. He also loves playing the piano, and taking walks outside. He hopes to improve his presenting skills, and writing skills this year, which will be a lot of fun for him.
